Gems are what Steam gives for breaking down trading cards, emoticons and profile backgrounds, and what it takes to make a booster pack. A Sack of Gems holds 1,000 of them as a single tradeable item, which is how they are bought and sold here — priced per sack.
Card crafters and level-up traders buy gems to turn into booster packs; anybody with a pile of spare card items can break them down and sell the sacks.
How the price is set here
There is no house price. Every figure on this page is a standing order from a player — the lowest ask is the cheapest anybody will sell for, the highest bid the most anybody will pay — and a trade happens when the two meet.
The fee is 0.25% from the buyer and 0.25% from the seller, against 5–15% on other popular markets. Balances are Septim, pegged to the dollar: fund with USDT or USDC, cash out the same way, and withdraw your items to Steam whenever you like. Questions are answered in the FAQ.
